Scope and contact
This notice describes personal-data handling for the service operated under the BisouBisou™ brand at bisoubisou.net. The brand name is not a claim that a separate company has been incorporated. Questions and requests can be sent to hello@bisoubisou.net.
Data used
Depending on your use, the service processes your email address, account identifier, display name, sign-in records, selected language, learning preferences, lesson attempts, progress and review history. Optional features also store your study plan, weekly goal, lesson position, writing drafts and problem reports. Technical providers may process connection and security information such as IP addresses and request logs. Do not include sensitive personal information in exercises or reports.
Purposes and grounds
We use account and learning data to authenticate you, provide the requested lessons, save progress, personalise your selected route, deliver account emails and respond to support requests. Security information helps prevent abuse and investigate incidents. Processing must have an applicable legal basis, such as providing the service you requested, meeting legal obligations or consent where required. Choosing a governing law does not remove other mandatory data-protection rules that may apply.
Providers and international processing
BisouBisou uses Supabase for authentication and database services, Vercel for hosting, and Infomaniak for account email delivery and a separate encrypted backup copy. Data may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. The protections and transfer requirements applicable to a particular operation must be respected; this notice is not a claim that all data remains in the UAE. Publicly licensed audio included in the application is served with its attribution. Following an external source link subjects that visit to the external site’s own practices.
Cookies and local storage
The service uses session cookies needed for sign-in. Its installable web version may store static resources and an offline page on your device. Clearing browser data can remove the local session and cached resources. Optional advertising or analytics tracking, if introduced, will be explained separately and will require consent where applicable.
Retention and security
Account and learning data are retained for the service purposes described here, subject to applicable law and legitimate needs such as resolving an incident. We use access controls to separate learner records and protect credentials. Backup copies are encrypted. No system can guarantee absolute security. Retention periods and deletion from backup rotation are not instantaneous; when handling a deletion request, any applicable retention or backup limitation will be explained.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or withdrawal of consent where processing relies on consent. You may also raise a complaint with the competent authority. Write to hello@bisoubisou.net from the account concerned. We may ask for proportionate verification, but never your account password. Withdrawing consent does not retroactively invalidate processing lawfully performed before withdrawal.
Learning recommendations
Starting checks and suggested routes help you choose lessons. They do not determine access to employment, formal education or a qualification. You can select another starting level and all published lessons remain available. Self-review checklists do not constitute an independent assessment of your writing.
Updates
We will update this notice when relevant practices change and identify the new date. Material changes will be brought to users’ attention as appropriate. The applicable federal UAE personal-data protection framework and any other mandatory applicable protections take precedence over conflicting wording in this notice.
